Award Success for North West Business Woman
Jane Pickup, MD of Style Counsel Interiors scooped the coveted Business Person of the Year Award at a ceremony held recently at Cranage Hall in South Cheshire. Congleton Borough’s Business Awards are held annually to recognise the achievements of businesses and individuals throughout the region.
Jane set up Style Counsel Interiors from the back bedroom of her home in Congleton in 2003 and the business now operates nationwide, employing 13 local staff and boasting a turnover just short of 2 million. Specialising in the supply of furniture packages to buy to let property investors, developers, home owners and first-time buyers, their exceptional levels of customer service include a professional measurement service, room planning and design of colour schemes, expert installation by their own team of highly trained installers and removal and recycling of all packaging.
“Competition for this year’s awards has never been fiercer” comments David Watson of the Borough of Congleton’s Chamber of Commerce, “and the winners have established themselves as the crème de la crème of the crop”.
Jane Pickup was honoured for making an outstanding contribution to Style Counsel Interiors during the last year. “I’m thrilled to have received such an accolade from the community that I live and work in” comments Jane, “I believe Style Counsel Interiors’ growth can be explained by the fact that the business concept is exactly the same now as it was 5 years ago. I recognised a gap in the market for a company that could provide good quality furniture that was attractive, built to last, affordable and could be delivered anywhere in the UK at speed. The company was built around this model and that is what we pride ourselves on to this day.”
Jane’s own personal expectation of high levels of customer service is reflected throughout the business, and her unwavering commitment to “getting it right” moulds the culture of her company. “The customer always comes first at Style Counsel Interiors, but my staff come a very close second” says Jane, “and this award is as much about them as it is about me. I could not have brought the business this far without their hard work and dedication, and hope that they will share my great pleasure in receiving this honour; I’m extremely proud of the reputation they have helped me to build within the industry.”
